Impact on Student Learning:
Physical Education teacher candidates utilize assessments and reflection to foster student learning and inform instructional decisions.
Element 5.1:
Select or create appropriate assessments that will measure student achievement of goals and objectives
Artifact:
Statistics and Assessments Final project cognitive and affective quiz
Date:
Fall 2011
Reflection:
The cognitive and affective assessments that I created for my final project in Statistics and Assessments meets standard five. This artifact meets this standard because the students were being assessed on the cognitive domain and how well they understood the sport of Gymnastics. We measured the student’s knowledge during a pre and post assessment and for the pre test we were looking for the students to receive an eight out of ten. The same quiz was given for the post assessment and our goal for our students was to have them receive a nine out of 10. Giving the quiz twice reinforces the physical educator on how well your students performed individually as well as a whole class. By giving and affective assessment we were able to get an idea of how well the students thought they were cooperating and working together throughout the unit. Assessing students is important in physical education in order to see how much students learn and it is important to the educator for future lessons and units to see if changes need to be made.
